ROUND 2 RESULTS

✧ INFORMATION ✧

3073. The world is plagued by darkness. Going outside sounds like a death wish as monstrous extraterrestrial beings stalk the streets, sparing no mercy to anyone who crosses their path.

Everything has been submerged in a thick, seemingly endless pool of evil. The people suffer, striving for survival with the utmost caution as the adults, children, and elderly alike fight for their lives. Your job is to restore the world to its previous state and bring back the light it once held.

Are you up to the task?

Mercurial Solstice Chorus Battle (MSCB) is a magical girl themed TV size chorus battle. With a total of three rounds, participants live within the story of the competition, defeating evil and discovering their true power. MSCB is an elimination-based chorus battle, where only about 50% of the teams advance to the final rounds.

Scores are calculated based off of four major weighted categories with different criteria to be met (see guidelines). Each round will last for a duration of six weeks, with about two weeks in between each for judging. The schedule is susceptible to being altered at any time if unforeseen circumstances arise within the judging or staff panels.

✧ GUIDELINES ✧

TEAMS

You may only participate with one active team at one time during competition. If your team is eliminated you are allowed to join an active team using a team pass. Assistance to any other teams without a pass will result in the immediate disqualification of all involved parties.

There is a minimum of 2 vocalists & 1 non-singing staff (staff-only members). Teams are allowed to have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 members in total. Members who do both vocals and staff roles take up only one member slot. You may have up to 6 vocalists.

Anonymous members and teams are permitted, however you must reveal your identity when registering.

Participants are allowed to make as many alterations to their roster as they see fit, however, it is mandatory to notify the MSCB staff with each change you make. Do not fill out an additional submission form.

There is a team cap at 70. Updates on the team number will be incredibly frequent on the CB Twitter.

SCORING

Teams are allowed to score up to 215 points with four major weighted categories:
· Vocals
· Mix
· Illustration
· Animation

Please refer to the sample rubric (see resources) for a more in-depth explanation & visual of each category and their subcategories’ scoring.

24 hour-long grace periods occur immediately after the deadline of each round.

There will be -5pt deductions for every hour after the deadline that entries are submitted late. Entries must have at duration of at least 1:30. Parts of the entry that exceed 2:30 will not be judged.

Regarding rendering issues, participants who contact the MSCB staff via Twitter DM’s (@MCSB2020) with a screenshot of the rendering progress will be granted an extra 24hrs til submission but will face a -24pt deduction.

SUBMISSIONS

Songs may be executed in any genre, translation/language, remix, or mashup, however all parties involved in the production of said songs and executions must be properly credited.

Entries must be titled using the following format:
【MSCB’20-R#】Song Name【Team Name】

Entry descriptions must include the following information:
· Interpretation
· Final mixes (MP3, final & acapella)
· Illustration folder
· Script
· All Credits (team members, original artist, all third party assets)

PASSES

Each team is granted 1 Grace Pass & 2 Team Passes for the entire duration of the competition.

Grace passes allow teams to enter the Grace Period for a total of 12hrs without any point deductions. If teams use their Grace Pass, that team will receive an additional 12 hours past the original deadline to submit. However, if they fail to submit their entry within this grace period, point deductions will occur normally for every hour past the new Grace Period deadline- with each hour exceeding your deadline, you lose -5pts per hour.

Team Passes allow 1 team member to temporarily sit out of the competition as someone else (who is not already in the competition) takes their place and/or add one non-participant individual to the roster as a permanent addition. If teams would like to add in a member from an already disqualified team for the next round(s), they may do so, however they must use a Team Pass.

For Round 1, you are allowed to make as many roster changes as you see fit free of penalty. Any planning ahead for Round 2 and/or 3 will unfortunately cost you one pass per member. Round 1’s Grace is free and extends to an extra 24hrs, meaning each team has one extra day to submit without any penalties. Any submissions following the free Grace Period will face deductions (5hrs per round unless you want to use a Pass to give yourself a +12hr extension).

MIN
Co-Host

Hey there! I’m MIN, the host of Mercurial Solstice. Mahou shoujo & shonen themes have always been a personal favourite of mine, and I decided to bring them back into the community as a competition theme. I’m excited to see all the entries and participants in the works, and I hope this chorus battle brings nothing but positive memories for the years to come!

Yoppy
Co-Host

Hi everyone, I'm Yoppy, and I'm going to be your co-host for MSCB^^
I have been in the vocautau community for around 7 years, and I even participated in a few UTAU cbs in the past, however I didn't get into the youtaite gig until last year. Since then, I have participated in SCB3, FWDB, and ToY as a vocalist and/or mixer. Additionally, I am a back-up judge/staff for IECB!
I'm here to help MIN especially, but I do really look forward to seeing the great things you create in this chorus battle! Ganba minna-san!!

Alece
Vocal Judge

Hello! My name is Joliet but my alias is Alece (A-Lease) which is my middle name. I have been in the community for 5 years and it's definitely an honor to be able to judge a Chorus Battle like this. I am going into university in the fall for music with a focus in vocal education. I can't wait to hear everyone's lovely vocals and hear all the wonderful entries.

Lacri
Vocal Judge

Hi! I’m Lacri and I’m a vocal judge for this chorus battle! I have a great passion for music and singing, and am going on to study music at university later this year. Growing up, my favourite anime was Tokyo Mew Mew so the theme of this CB holds a very special place in my heart. I’m so excited to see everyone’s entries and I hope that you all have fun!

Juudenki
Mix Judge

Hello! Juudenki here. I've been doing covers, original music and a bunch of other stuff for quite a few years. My life has been (literally) changed by Sailor Moon, so the mahou shoujo genre is something very precious for me. I will be judging mix for this CB and this will be my first time CB judging but I hope for a good experience for everyone!

Nos
Mix Judge

Hello, I'm Nos and I will be your mix judge. I look forward to all the amazing entries and I hope everyone can have a good and fun experience!

Soup
Art Judge

Hi, I'm (Ponkan)Soup/Josie and I am an art judge. I study art and hope to become a professional artist soon. I've been part of the Voca community since 2009 and became a Vocaloid producer in 2015. I look forward to working with you all!

ZWEZKA
Animation Judge

Hello there, my name is ZWEZKA and I'm going to be your judge for animation! I'm a hobbyist, though I've been practicing and admiring animation for over 6 years now. Only recently I joined the Youtaite community, but have watched the community from afar for years now. I can only say with anticipation, that I am excited for what awesome contributions will come out of this CB!

Kai Caramba
Animation Judge

Hiya, I'm Kai and I'm your animation judge! I studied media design at college and am now working as animator and audio engineer at a multimedia company! I've been part of the youtaite community for approx. 9 months, but started making covers almost 10 years ago!
I'm really looking forward to all those amazing entries~

Ekho
Staff

Hello! Ekho here and I’m a slave staff for MSCB! I’ve been in the community for two years already. Tokyo Mew Mew was my introduction to the whole magical girl genre. This is my first time helping out a chorus battle and I hope to gain a lot of experience from all of this. Looking forward to seeing everybody’s amazing entries and I wish you all the best of luck!

Miya
Staff

I'm 미/매! I've been an artist since 2017 but I'm more into coloring than drawing. I don't know much about Mahou Shoujo/Shonen themes but I'm here to experience being a staff & maybe learn some more about it along the way! I hope you can enjoy this Chorus Battle!
